A Fitness For Duty evaluation is an assessment requested by an employer, to determine if psychological issues are interfering with an employee’s functioning such that he/she is unable to perform essential job requirements; this also includes an evaluation of whether the individual poses an increased risk of harm to self or others. When completing these evaluations, we maintain a position of neutrality and do not advocate for either the employer or the employee.

There are a number of ways an employee’s mental health issues can interfere with his/her functioning in the workplace; some of these include:

  • Stress Tolerance

  • Mood Dysregulation

  • Reliability

  • Persistence

  • Conscientiousness

  • Interpersonal Functioning

These traits, along with others, can be measured by valid and reliable personality assessment tools, and can provide a clearer picture of an individual’s fitness for duty. Concise or comprehensive written reports are available to your organization, and can give you the information you need to make ethical and legal decisions in the workplace.
